Portland police and the FBI are searching for two people who robbed a pair of Key Bank branches Friday while wearing rubber masks that made them look like old men.
Two people entered the bank at 400 Forest Ave. at 11:05 a.m. wearing masks and demanding cash from tellers. They ran off toward Fessenden Street, police said.
The same two people robbed the bank at 85 Auburn St. at 11:20 a.m., police said. A dye pack handed over with the money during the robbery activated on a path behind the bank. The robbers may have red dye stains on their hands, police said.
They were last seen getting into a getaway car parked behind the bank on Brook Road. It is a small dark car with a license plate that included the numbers 8843.
The robbers showed no weapons during either robbery and nobody was hurt, police said.
The robbers are of medium height and medium build, and were wearing knit caps and sunglasses along with the masks.
Anyone with information is asked to call 874-8575.
