BANGOR — A Vermont man convicted of wire fraud for defrauding a Maine town is scheduled to be sentenced this week.

Craig Sanborn of Maidstone is set to be sentenced in federal court in Bangor on Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. A judge convicted him in May of submitting $300,000 worth of false invoices to Brownville, Maine, for materials and services he never bought. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Sanborn was also convicted last year of two counts of negligent homicide and manslaughter in connection with a fatal explosion at a Colebrook, New Hampshire, gunpowder plant. He has asked that his sentence run at the same time as his 10-to-20-year sentence for manslaughter in New Hampshire.
