Percentage-wise, the poor pay a much larger amount of taxes than the more wealthy. Sales, property, car registration fees, gas and such taxes as Paul LePage would increase to help the wealthy would cause Maine’s poor to shoulder a still higher percentage, when they already pay a higher percentage of taxes on their income than the wealthy.
