AUGUSTA — A jury convicted an Augusta woman of assaulting her mother but cleared her of a charge of domestic assault against her sister.
Bobbi Sue Trask, also known as Bobbi Sue Kinney, 28, who had recently moved from Knox, remains free on bail pending sentencing.
The jury verdict was returned last week in Kennebec County Superior Court.
The felony assault charge and the misdemeanor domestic violence charge both stemmed from an April 18, 2014, incident on Wilson Street Place in Augusta.
Trask’s mother told police at the time that she told Trask to stop choking her dog with a leash when Trask “grabbed (the mother) by the throat and would not let go,” according to an affidavit by Augusta Police Officer Eric Lloyd.
The sister intervened to try to help her mother, Lloyd said.
Trask’s attorney, Harris A. Mattson, was in a meeting Monday and did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment.
Also sentenced last week in separate hearings in Kennebec County Superior Court:
