All state workers who are under the state pension plan should be switched over to the federal government’s Social Security System.

The federal government is better equipped to pay the retirements incurred by these employees than the state of Maine. As state employees retire and collect a retirement that includes many fringe benefits, taxpayers are left trying to keep up with this ever increasing cost. The Maine Public Retirement System is in charge of the retirement plan, which needs to be completely overhauled in order to be fair to the Maine people.
