Air Force Staff Sgt. Jezrell D. Zimmerman participated in the 2014 Global Strike Challenge.

The Global Strike Challenge is the world’s premier bomber, intercontinental ballistic missile and security forces competition, featuring units from Air Force Global Strike Command, Air Combat Command, Air Force Reserve Command and the Air National Guard, according to a news release from Joint Hometown New Service.

The Challenge’s three primary goals are to build esprit de corps, recognize the Air Force’s global strike teams and help enhance the Air Force’s combat capabilities by spotlighting areas of improvement.

Security forces, operations and maintenance personnel were evaluated in several key areas. The competition judges the Airmen’s proficiencies through functional area knowledge assessments, timed exercises and thorough inspections of the aircraft and equipment.

Zimmerman is currently serving as a confinement supervisor with the 2nd Security Forces Squadron, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

He is a 2007 graduate of Winthrop High School, Winthrop.
