Elijah Fish and Michael Glazier recently were honored for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Family and friends, as well as special guests, attended a Court of Honor on Jan. 18 at the American Legion Hall in Gardiner, according to a news release.

Elijah began his Scouting career as a Tiger Cub and proceeded through all the ranks of Cub Scouts with Cub Scout Pack 613 of West Gardiner. He and Michael then became Boy Scouts and joined Troop 672 in Gardiner, where they held several leadership positions and participated in many Scouting adventures including whitewater rafting and wilderness survival. They have each earned more than 30 merit badges ranging from aviation to woodcarving.

Michael’s community service project was to build team benches for the high school lacrosse field, while Elijah organized the building of two dozen birdhouses to create a bluebird trail at the Viles Arboretum.

Both Scouts are juniors at Gardiner Area High School, where they are members of the National Honor Society and participate in many extracurricular activities such as student government. Michael also is a varsity athlete on the school’s lacrosse and golf teams, while Elijah is a varsity athlete for the basketball and baseball teams.

Michael and Elijah are planning to attend college following graduation in the spring.
