Six scholarships, $500 each, available

GARDINER — The Scholarship Committee of Gardiner Federal Credit Union has announced it will offer a total of $3,000 in scholarships in 2015.

GFCU is offering six scholarships, in the amount of $500 each, to deserving students who are pursuing post-secondary education or graduate degrees, according to a news release from the credit unit. To be considered for the scholarships, applicants must live, work, worship or attend school in Kennebec County, Lincoln County, or in the towns of Palermo or Richmond. Applicants must also complete two essay questions and a cover letter/application that details their extracurricular activities and community service.

The application is available on Gardiner Federal Credit Union’s website gardinerfcu.org and is also available through the guidance offices at area high schools. The deadline to apply is May 13.

All completed applications will be reviewed by the GFCU Scholarship Committee and the selected recipients will be notified prior to graduation. Any inquiries about the scholarships can be directed to Kelly Marie at 582-2676, ext. 125 or [email protected].
