ELLSWORTH — Morgan Carver scored a game-high 20 points and the Gardiner girls basketball team pulled away from Ellsworth 39-33 in an Eastern B prelim game Tuesday night.

The teams were tied 29-29 at the end of three quarters before Gardiner put the game away in the fourth quarter. Carver finished with six rebounds and three steals as well.

Megan Perry had 11 rebounds and six points for Gardiner (8-11), which will meet top-seeded Mt. Desert Island (18-0) in the quarterfinals Saturday at 3:05 p.m. in Bangor.

Sammy Mason led Ellsworth (11-9) with nine points.

WESTERN D

VALLEY 39, SEACOAST 30: Samantha West scored 13 points and Jordan Belanger added 10 as the Cavaliers prevailed in a prelim game in Bingham.

Valley (8-11) will next play No. 2 Rangeley in a Western D quarterfinal Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in the Augusta Civic Center.

Kylene DeSmith scored a game-high 15 points to lead Seacoast (8-11.

UNIFIED

CONY 47, MESSALONSKEE 23: Jonathan Christie scored 19 points and Aaron Brann added 14 to lead Cony in Augusta.

Matthew Baker chipped in with six points and Aaron Gray added four for Cony (2-0).

Tyler Ward scored seven points to lead Messalonskee (0-1).

BOYS HOCKEY

MESSALONSKEE 4, BREWER 1: Jared Cunningham scored his 200th career point and Brandon Nale scored his 100th career point as the Eagles prevailed at Sukee Arena.

Cunningham had a goal and two assists while Nale had a goal and an assist.

Jake Dexter and Devin Pickett also scored for the Eagles (16-1-0), who have won 14 straight.

Brewer dropped to 8-6-2.

COLLEGE WOMEN

COLBY 64, HUSSON 57: Carylanne Wolfington scored 22 points and Mia Diplock added 12 as the Mules prevailed in a non-conference game in Bangor.

MaryKate Caverly also scored 12 for Colby (16-6).

Samira Cruz scored 14 points to lead Husson (13-8).
