WATERVILLE — Partnering with United Way of Mid-Maine, Inland Hospital will collect nonperishable food items through February to help fight hunger in local communities.
To meet special dietary needs of local residents living with chronic disease and to help all individuals and families access nutritious foods, the hospital asks for healthy choice donations in particular, according to a news release from the hospital. Low-fat, whole wheat or whole grain items such as pasta and cereal, low-sodium canned vegetables, and fruit canned in fruit juice are suggested.
Nonperishable food items can be donated at Inland Hospital’s cafeteria or RehabWorks Department in the Medical Arts Building. Items collected will be delivered to local food banks with the most need. For more information, call 861-3292.
