AUGUSTA — The Maine State Museum will offer in-depth explorations of the natural world for the whole family during February school vacation week, Feb. 17-21. The gallery programs, craft activities, and hands-on touch cart are suitable for all ages and are free with the price of museum admission, according to a news release from the Museum.

Programs and activities include:

• Gallery Program: Life Under a Log, 10 a.m.-noon; and Natural Science Touch Cart, 2-4 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17.

• Gallery Program: The Formation of Rocks and Minerals, 10 a.m.-noon; and Natural Science Touch Cart, 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18.

• Natural Science Touch Cart, 2-4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19.

• Fish Printing Activity, 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20.

• A Rush of Wings: A Family Fun Day, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21 — free admission all day.

The museum is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and closed Sunday and Monday. Admission cost $2 for adults; $1 for seniors older than 62 and children 6-18; and free for younger children. Maximum charge for families is $6.
