JEFFERSON — As part of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend (Feb. 14-16), the Natural Resources Council of Maine invites those who ski and snowshoe to Hidden Valley Nature Center on Sunday, Feb. 15. The NRCM has partnered with the center to host a morning of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on groomed trails.

Those who plan to attend can meet at 10 a.m. at the gate of the center, 131 Egypt Road. Directions can be found at www.hvnc.org. There are 25 miles of trails to explore, along varied terrain including a mile by the shore of Little Dyer Pond, according to a NRCM news release.

Participants can pack a lunch and eat in one of three warming huts. The event will run until 1 p.m., though people can stay as long as they want.

This event is free. For planning purposes, participants are asked to RSVP to nrcm.kintera.org/HVNC. Suggested donation to the center is $5.

Overnight facilities are available to those who want to stay all weekend. The center has snowshoes to rent: $6 for children; and $10 for adults. Reservations required as supply is limited. To rent snowshoes, email [email protected].
