BUS TRIPS

• Boston Flower Show — Saturday, March 14

Enjoy the beautiful gardens and exhibits at the 2015 Boston Flower and Garden Show at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. The show will feature distinguished garden writers, landscape professionals, master gardeners, local chefs and many vendors along with instructional workshops and how-to demonstrations. The fee includes roundtrip motor coach transportation and admission to the show. The bus will depart the Palmyra Wal Mart at 6:30 a.m. and will arrive in Boston around 11 a.m. We will depart from Boston promptly at 5 p.m. and arrive back in Palmyra at approximately 9:30 p.m. Seats must be purchased by Wednesday, March 4. No refunds after Wednesday, March 4.

• JFK Library & Museum — Wednesday, April 29

Travel to historic Boston, Mass., to enjoy the day at the JFK Library & Museum. The library and museum is dedicated to the memory of our nation’s 35th president and to all those who, through the art of politics, seek a new and better world. Tour the museum which portrays the life, leadership, and legacy of President Kennedy, conveys his enthusiasm for politics and public service, and illustrates the nature of the office of the President. Tour includes roundtrip motorcoach transportation, admission to the JFK Library & Museum, the services of a Cyr Northstar Tour Director, and tour planning services. Full payment must be received no later than March 15.

• Quality of Life Classes

Painting I — Thursdays, through May 28 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Familiarize yourself with the various techniques and materials of painting with acrylics. Explore the medium with brushstrokes and color experiment. Practice sketching with graphite pencils and painting those pieces. You will also work with real-life visuals such as models, still-life setups, photos, and nature as well as abstract and creative images as you learn about and practice the elements and principles of art through hands-on creations. Supplies will be about $68 – $102. Ashley will discuss supplies with you on the first day of class. Depending on your brand and style preference, most supplies are available online as well as at local stores where art supplies are sold.

• Hand Pottery — Wednesdays, through March 18 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Come learn the basics of working in clay and try different fun hand building techniques to create functional and decorative pottery for your home! Cost $64

• Floral, Just in Time for Valentine’s Day — Thursday, Feb. 12 from 6 to 8:00 p.m.

For the romantics, send your husband or have him send you to create your own bouquet. We will use reds, pinks and whites typical of the holiday and will create two small arrangements that you will enjoy seeing on your table or office desk.

• Walking Into Wellness — Mondays and Thursdays, Feb. 23 through April 16 from 5 to 6 p.m.

This class is a perfect beginner class or for people who have not been active in a while. This is a low impact class. It is a great way to start your wellness journey. This class will incorporate some short bursts of power walking (this is not required as participants work at their own fitness and comfort level). This class is great for seniors, beginners and everyone looking for a fun low-impact group workout. Come and get walking with us.

• Ruthless — Mondays and Thursdays, Feb. 23 through April 16 from 6:05 to 7:20 p.m.

Team Webber takes Power Walking to a new level. Come ready to sweat and get your metabolism in overdrive. This workout has some interval training with weights, so bring 5 or 10 pound weights with you. This is a fun group workout that is sure to make you sweat. All fitness levels are welcome as moves can be modified for varied fitness levels. Each session will get a little bit harder, but it will be fun! Join Team Webber for a motivational workout.

• Notary Public — Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 24-25 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interested in becoming a Notary? Get prepared to apply to become a Notary or to use your current Commission wisely and lawfully. You will learn about everything from the history of Notaries, to eligibility, power and duties, procedures, troubleshooting, record keeping, documents, content, and recommissioning. This class will be taught through Tandberg distance conferencing.

• Beekeeping for Beginners — Tuesdays, Feb. 24 through March 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This class is designed to stimulate the interest in and answer the questions of those interested in starting beekeeping as a hobby, to help pollinate their crops, or generally learn more about the honeybee industry. It covers what is needed and where to locate bees’ hives, where to buy them, what it costs, and how to care for bees so they survive the winter.

• Zumba — Wednesday, Feb. 25 through April 15 from 4 to 5 p.m.

Want to burn off lots of calories while having a dance party? Then this is the class for you! Exciting music and fun moves will keep you burning calories while having so much fun. If you like to dance, jump and whittle your body while having a fantastic time, then come on over and join the fun. The perfect mid-week class that will keep you going until Friday.

• Sewing for Beginners to Intermediate — Wednesdays, Feb. 25 through April 1 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Our first class will include a discussion about fabric and pattern choice and how to use the sewing machine. You will purchase patterns and fabrics for the second class and bring your own machines to sew a simple project of your choice.

• Town Meeting – Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Whether you’re a “hard-core” meeting attendee or a “newbie” learning the ins and outs of town meetings, it is important to stand up for what you believe. You will learn the aspects of a typical New England-style Town Meeting. We will include the discussions about the Warrant and the significance of that document, the moderator, and the articles and what’s important on the wording. (snow date March 4)

• Living and Cooking Gluten and Allergy Free — Thursdays, Feb. 26, March 12 and 26, April 9, May 7 and 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.

We will focus on how to modify recipes for gluten free cooking and baking as well as for other food allergies. Instructor Mike Switzer, from Ralph’s Cafe in Brooks, will show you how to take ready made food products and add homemade items, to create tasty and low cost food dishes to serve your family. This fun class combines menu planning, cooking, and eating.

• Weekend Warrior — Saturdays, Feb. 28 through April 18 from 7 to 8:15 a.m.

This is a great way to begin your weekend burning lots of calories. Each workout will be tough but fun! There will be a variety of exercises and some circuit work so be sure to bring your hand weights (5 lb, 10 lb or more) and great attitude for a fun time.

• Introduction to Fly Fishing — Saturday, Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Become solidly grounded in the fundamentals needed to enjoy fly fishing. Topics covered include: tackle selection and assembly, knots, fly casting, fish foods, artificial flies, fly fishing strategies, entomology, and wading safety. After you complete this course, you should have all the understanding and skills necessary to catch fish with a fly rod on your own.

COMPUTER CLASSES

• Introduction to Computers Windows — Eight Mondays and Tuesdays, Feb. 23 through March 2 from 6 to 8 p.m.
