The district attorney has decided to not accept cash for restitution or supervision fees. As I look at my paper money, I read, “This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private.” How is it that the district attorney’s office can reject cash?
To the people who made this policy, a couple of dollars for a money order is not much money, but to those who are required to make the payment this may not be an insignificant amount. This policy results in a person having to pay an additional fee on top of the required amount.
The district attorney should be required to accept payment in cash in the satellite office located in the new judicial center.
