Some three dozen Girl Scouts from the Waterville area delivered valentines to hospice patients at the Lakewood Manor Nursing home in Waterville on Friday afternoon, as part of a Hearts for Hospice effort to bring cheer to the patients. The program was initiated through the efforts of Kelly Herlihy, volunteer coordinator at the Beacon Hospice in Augusta.
The Waterville effort was part of a larger effort involving the Girl Scouts and hospice care centers in New England.
Moore than 3,000 valentines were delivered to patients at hospices in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The Girl Scouts involved in making and distributing the cards range in age from 5 to 16.
