AUGUSTA — Maine’s annual hunting season for fox and special seasons for snowshoe hare and squirrel are ending for the year.
The fox season ends on Saturday. That is also the last day of the year to hunt snowshoe hare on Vinalhaven Island and to hunt for gray squirrel via falconry. The regular gray squirrel season ended Dec. 31 while the regular snowshoe hare season goes through March 31.
The hare and squirrel seasons have daily limits of four and possession limits of eight. The fox season does not have a bag or possession limit.
