Icy roads in York County contributed to a series of crashes and at least one road closure Thursday morning.

Route 1 south of Ogunquit was closed briefly during the morning commute because of dangerously icy conditions. Police in York County report that the road has reopened to traffic.

Elsewhere in York County, slick roads contributed to a series of crashes on Interstate 95 in Biddeford and a multiple-car crash on I-95 in Wells.

The crash in Wells was reported shortly after 7 a.m. Four people were injured, but none of them seriously, a dispatcher said.

The speed limit on the Maine Turnpike from New Hampshire to Exit 53 in Falmouth was reduced for several hours Thursday morning. The speed limit alert was later lifted and speeds are no longer restricted to 45 mph.
