Maine’s top spellers will compete Saturday, March 21 for the right to represent the state at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.
Among the competitors will be defending Maine champion Steffi Victoria. She’s a seventh grade at Sedomocha Middle School in Dover-Foxcroft and is the current Piscataquis County champion.
The spelling takes place at 2 p.m. at Hannaford Hall, on the first floor of the Abromson Community Education Center, at the University of Southern Maine, 88 Bedford St., Portland.
Admission and garage parking are free.
Note: The Kennebec County champion is Nasim Adam, grade 8, Winthrop Middle School; there is no competitor representing Penobscot County
