Bangor-based Cross Insurance acquired one of New England’s largest independent insurance agencies Monday.
Cross, a subsidiary of Cross Financial Corp., announced in a news release that it purchased Corcoran & Havlin Insurance Group, an independent insurance agency based in Wellesley, Massachusetts, with offices in Medfield and Duxbury.
Under terms of the acquisition, Corcoran & Havlin’s owners, Jack Keefe and George Doherty, will continue to lead the organization following the transaction. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“Jack and George have built a first-class organization and have a knowledgeable and dedicated staff supporting them,” said Royce Cross, CEO of Cross Insurance. “We are extremely pleased that they have agreed to join our organization and we look forward to having them as part of our leadership team.”
Corcoran & Havlin, which employs about 50 people, was represented in the transaction by Philo Smith & Co.
The company now has 700 employees operating out of offices in Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Florida.
