Monmouth police continue to investigate a high-speed crash early Saturday morning on Wilson Pond Road that sent one person to the hospital.

Police Chief Kevin Mulherin had few details about the crash, but said an 18-year-old woman was taken to an area hospital with what were believed to be non life-threatening injuries. Mulherin said the injured woman was a passenger in the Ford F-250 pickup truck. The driver left the scene, Mulherin said, but has been in contact with police.

Mulherin said the crash remains under investigation.

The crash occurred just before 2:30 a.m. in the area of mailbox number 748 Wilson Pond Road when the pickup truck left the road and hit a tree. The truck was totaled, Mulherin said.

“There was definitely speed involved,” he said.

Mulherin asked anyone with information about the crash to call Monmouth police at 933-9089.
