WATERVILLE — The Thomas women’s lacrosse team built a five-goal lead and held on for a 10-7 North Atlantic Conference win over the University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday

Thomas (6-2 overall, 5-1 NAC) led 3-0 at halftime and 5-0 less than three minutes into the second half. The Beavers could not get closer than three goals after that.

Toral Nelson, Sophia LaVallee, Samantha Greenlaw, and Gardiner grad Jenn Day each had a pair of goals for the Terriers. Allie McCarthy had nine saves.

Ayla Allen scored three goals for UMF (2-6, 1-3), giving her 25 on the season. Patty Smith made eight saves.

BOWDOIN 8, COLBY 7: Sara Miller and Lexie Perticone each scored two goals, but it wasn’t enough for the Mules, who fell to the Polar Bears in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game in Brunswick.

Abbie Hatch, Kendall Smith and Cassie Rogers each added goals for Colby (9-3, 4-3 NESCAC).

Megan O’Connor scored three goals for Bowdoin (9-2, 5-2 NESCAC).

Also on Tuesday: Messalonskee graduate Sam Dexter had three hits and drove in three runs for the University of Southern Maine baseball team in a 17-3 win at Husson. Messalonskee’s Devin Warren had four hits and drove in three for the Huskies (12-6). For Husson (14-8), Waterville’s Kyle Bishop had two hits and JT Whitten had a hit.
