I haven’t written a letter for some time, but after seeing the opinion page in the newspaper of April 10, I feel that I should let my feelings be known about an item that I didn’t believe our newspaper would ever allow to be printed in this paper.

I refer to the editorial cartoon with the caption “Target Practice.” It’s of a police officer taking shots at a target’s back.

I think we’ve had enough bad publicity about police abuse of power in the past few months that publishing items like this isn’t in the best interest at this time.

And I do think it’s an insult to all the rest of the fine dedicated officers that put their lives on the line everyday. We seldom hear about them anymore.
