The Jazz and Contemporary Music Program at the University of Maine at Augusta will celebrate UMA’s 50th anniversary with “Jazz (and more) Week,” a week of “superb” concerts featuring both student and faculty performers Wednesday, April 22, through Saturday, April 25, at Jewett Hall Auditorium, all concerts begin at 7 p.m., according to a news release from the university.

Wednesday’s performances will be a pair of small-group jazz and jazz/rock ensembles, while the “highly distinctive” Progressive Rock and Video Game Music groups will perform on Thursday. On Friday, Sonic UMA! will perform an evening of contemporary rock, R&B and experimental directions.

Saturday night in particular will be a celebration of UMA’s 50th anniversary with performances by the “outstanding” professional group of graduating seniors, Sassquatch and the “always-superb” Jazz On Tour ensemble.

Admission to all UMA Jazz (and more) Week concerts is free. No tickets or reservations are required.
