MERCER — A Belgrade woman hurt in a car crash was found by police after residents in a house near the crash reported suspicious activity when she knocked on their door yelling for help.

Stacie Frost, 36, suffered injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening and was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, said Chief Deputy James Ross, of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

Frost was found in her vehicle, a 1998 Nissan sport utility vehicle, off the side of Beech Hill Road at around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies went to the area when residents of a house nearby reported someone yelling and banging on their door, Ross said. As the deputies checked the area, a report of a motor vehicle accident came in and they found Frost.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, but it appears Frost may have fallen asleep, Ross said.

He said speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident.

Frost was also cited for illegal attachment of plates on the vehicle. The Norridgewock Fire Department also responded.
