RICHMOND — The Richmond baseball team sent eight to the plate in the second inning and took advantage of seven errors to pick up a 14-4 victory over North Yarmouth Academy in five innings Saturday.

Brendan Emmons picked up the win on the mound for the Bobcats (3-0), had two hits and drove in a run. Tyler Soucy chipped in with two hits and plated a pair of runs.

NYA fell to 0-2 with the loss.

BELFAST 3, ERSKINE 1: Emery Dinsmore scattered four hits and a walk over seven innings as Belfast held off Erskine in their Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference season opener.

Dinsmore struck out five and allowed only an RBI double to Ryan Rodrigue in the sixth inning to spoil the shutout. Rodrigue finished with two hits for the Eagles.

SOFTBALL

ERSKINE 13, BELFAST 0: Avery Bond belted a grand slam and a triple and Amber Grady had three hits to lead Erskine to a win over Belfast in their KVAC season opener in Belfast.

Mallory Chamberlain allowed two hits over five innings to pick up the win for the Eagles (1-0). Taylor McLaggan had two doubles and Megan Gunn a double and two singles as part of Erskine’s 14-hit attack.
