WATERVILLE — The Thomas College women’s lacrosse team scored three goals in about a nine-minute stretch of the second half to grab a 9-7 victory over Colby-Sawyer in a North Atlantic Conference semifinal game Wednesday afternoon at Smith Field.

The teams were tied 6-6 before the Terriers took the lead for good when Gardiner graduate Jennifer Day scored her 49th goal of the season with 20 minutes, 6 seconds left in the second half.

Samantha Greenlaw and Brittany Premo also scored later in the half for the Terriers, who advanced to the conference title game Saturday afternoon.

No. 2 Thomas (8-3) will play at top-seeded Castleton State (15-2) in Castleton, Vt., at a time to be determined.

Premo and Day each finished with three goals to lead the Terriers, who led 6-3 at the half before No. 3 Colby-Sawyer (10-6) rallied early in the second half to pull even. Day also chipped in with three assists while Allie McCarthy had nine saves.

Caitlyn Wheartly scored three goals to lead the Chargers.
