I’ve never expressed my views here before, but I’ve decided this time I must.

As I knew would happen, people are attacking the April 23 opinion of columnist, Don Roberts. I read and re-read his excellent column, “In Defense of Christianity” and that is exactly what it is — a defense of the rights of Christians to their beliefs and opinions.

Nowhere in his column does Roberts say that Christians should have “special rights,” as some people say.

I’m grateful that America allows Maine Atheists and Humanists to express their opinions and pray that it will continue to allow the Christian community to express theirs as well without feeling we are being “intolerant” or expecting “special rights.”
