After implementing a “lock-in” safety protocol early Tuesday morning because of a threatening Facebook post, Lake Region High School has returned to normal.
The principal of the Naples high school, Ted Finn, announced that at 6:45 a.m. the school went into “lock-in” mode, in which students went to classes but stayed within the building instead of being allowed to go outside.
By 9:30 a.m., an investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office determined there was no threat to students, and classes resumed as normal, according to a subsequent post on the school’s website.
Lake Region Middle School also was placed into a similar safety mode first thing Tuesday morning because of its close proximity to the high school, and regular class movement resumed there also later in the morning.
The sheriff’s office has yet to release details about the threatening nature of the Facebook post.
