State police have charged a Leeds man who is prohibited from having guns with possessing an arsenal of firearms.

Police were called to Fish Street on Monday for a report that Guy Schultz, 43, had fired a gun too close to a neighbor’s house. Troopers determined that he was not allowed to have a gun because of a 1991 burglary conviction.

Police say they searched his home and seized several handguns, rifles and shotguns, as well as equipment like silencers. Some of the equipment lacked the required federal registration, police said.

State police were helped at the scene by agents with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
