An Abbot man was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of his father two weeks ago in Parkman.
Zachery Grant, 38, was taken into custody as he was released in the late afternoon from Acadia Hospital in Bangor, according to a news release from Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Grant had been hospitalized for treatment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face, first at Eastern Maine Medical Center and later at Acadia.
State police detectives have been investigating the death of David Grant, 61, who was found shot to death May 12 in the front yard of his mobile home in Parkman. The State Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Grant had died from multiple gunshot wounds.
After consultation with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, state police detectives arrested Grant upon his release from the hospital.
He was taken to the state police barracks in Bangor and was expected to be transferred on Wednesday evening to the Piscataquis County Jail. Grant is expected to make his first court appearance in Dover-Foxcroft either Thursday or Friday, depending on the availability of a judge.
