A 2015 Peterbilt tractor-trailer fully loaded with wood chips overturned Thursday morning on U.S. Route 201 in Solon sending the Canadian driver to the hospital.

The crash was reported to the Somerset County Communications Center at 2:19 a.m.

The truck, owned by B Roy Transport of Quebec, was traveling too fast and lost control on a corner, striking a guardrail and bridge and then overturning and partially spilling its load, according to Staff Sgt. Michael W. Knight of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department. Somerset Deputy Joseph Jackson responded to the crash.

The tractor-trailer driver, Carole Fortin, 42, of Quebec, suffered minor injuries. He was taken by EMS ambulance for treatment at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.

Jackson was assisted at the scene by the Solon Fire Department, the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit and the Maine Department of Transportation.

The accident remains under investigation.
