Sheepscot Wellspring Land Alliance will offer a StoryWalk at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, on the Haystack Mountain Trail in Liberty, featuring children’s book “The Salamander Room.” Families can walk along a one-mile trail as Audrey O’Clair reads this imaginative story about a boy who finds a salamander and pictures how he would turn his room into the perfect salamander home, according to a news release from the alliance.

“This beautifully illustrated story helps us think about the many parts that make up a habitat that each species needs to thrive, and connect ourselves to that,” said Anna Fiedler, executive director of the alliance.

A StoryWalk features popular children’s books mounted on sign posts along local public access trails. This event combines love of outdoors, physical activity, family togetherness and literacy development. The signs and story will remain up through September; the 17 elegant wooden sign posts were locally crafted by Jim Macdonald.

Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the Haystack Mountain trailhead behind the Walker Memorial Ball Field in Liberty. In event of a rain cancellation, this event will not be rescheduled. For more information, contact Anna Fiedler at 589-3230 or swlamaine@gmail.com.
