Winthrop police are looking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible for a recent string of thefts.
Detective Peter Struck said a pair of burglaries and two thefts were reported from Sunday through Thursday on Winthrop Center Road. All of the reports were at homes located between Narrows Pond Road and U.S. Route 202.
“They appear to be stealing gas cans and lawn care equipment,” Struck said. The stolen items also include a collector’s knife worth more than $3,000.
The burglaries have involved breaking into a shed and workshop, Struck said. Items taken during the thefts were not inside a building.
The thieves have made off with a half dozen cans of gasoline, a weed trimmer and fishing poles.
Police are unsure what time of day the thefts occurred.
Struck urged residents to keep equipment inside a locked building. He asked anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who notices any in the future to call Winthrop police at 377-7226
