Surprise, surprise, property taxes are going up, again in Augusta. The City Council says not one dollar can be cut from the school budget. Really?

Our city government and school board spending is out of control. Soon, we will be competing with Waterville where they paid $27.49 per $1,000 property valuation before this year’s increase. I don’t know why, but we don’t get to vote on the city budget. We do, however, get to vote on the school budget.

I think we should send a message to our failed city government and school board. We should let them know we are not satisfied with their lack of leadership on controlling spending by voting no on the school budget referendum on Tuesday.
