State police on Saturday identified the man killed Friday in a motorcycle accident in Sidney as James Turlo, 51, of Sidney.
Lt. Mark Brooks, commander of state police Troop C barracks in Skowhegan, said Turlo was alone on a 2014 300CC Vespa traveling north on Quaker Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. Turlo was ejected from the motorcycle and struck several trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Brooks said.
Beth Dickens, who lives across the street from the accident site, said on Friday she saw the crash and that the motorcyclist wore no protective clothing, no shoes and no shirt.
Sgt. Matt Casavant, Trooper Jesse Duda and Trooper Joe Chretien investigated the fatal crash Friday afternoon.
