Birding by Canoe, 8 a.m. June 20 in Holden

Join the Maine Audubon chapter at the Fields Pond Nature Center for a birding trip by canoe. The cost is $10, or free for children under 10. To register, call 989-2591.

Civil War Re-enactment, June 26-27 in Augusta

The Viles Arboretum in Augusta will host a Civil War re-enactment. The events start June 26 with a parade beginning at Old Fort Western in Augusta and following Arsenal Street to the Arboretum. Each day will present both Confederate and Union encampment life with various demonstrations, from bread baking to musket firing. Dozens of re-enactors will be on hand in period uniforms and clothing to answer questions. To learn more go to or call 626-7989.
