Capital Area Technical Center has announced its May Students of the Month.

Josh Benner is a junior from Hall-Dale High School enrolled in the automotive technology program. He has always tinkered on cars at home with his dad, but feels this class is giving him some skills to pursue a career as an automotive technician, according to a news release from CATC. He was able to successfully change a wheel bearing on his sister’s car as part of the class. “Josh has real mechanical aptitude and will make a great auto tech,” said Keith Hart, his instructor, in the release. Josh keeps active and plays on Hall-Dale’s soccer, basketball and tennis teams. Benner will return to CATC next year for another year in the automotive technology program.

Angel Mayo is a senior from Erskine Academy enrolled in the certified nursing assistant program She has known she has wanted to pursue a nursing career since the seventh grade. She especially enjoyed the mandatory clinical experiences she had at Maine Veterans’ Home, so much, that she recently obtained a job there. Her instructor, Bethany Sherman said, “Angel has been a model student and hasn’t missed a day all year,” in the release. Mayo has volunteered more than 200 hours at MaineGeneral. In the fall, Angel will attend University of Maine at Augusta and has the goal of becoming a pediatric nurse.
