Maine’s 60 newest police officers recently graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro. The new officers, who mostly come from the local and county ranks, spent 18 weeks at the academy in study and training, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The graduation speaker was Maine Attorney General Janet Mills, who said, “The qualities that make a great officer are the same things that we admire in our best citizens. They are people who stay informed, stay involved in their communities and stay true to their values,” according to the release.
