TUFTS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

BOSTON — Deborah Witkin, of Hallowell, received her MD during the May 17 commencement ceremony at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Witkin was one of 33 Maine Track MD students. The Maine Track MD program, a partnership between Tufts University School of Medicine and Maine Medical Center, trains medical students interested in practicing medicine in underserved urban and rural communities where the shortage of physicians is critical, according to a news release from the university.

Dr. Witkin is the child of Sylvie Charron, of Hallowell, and Steve Witkin, of Belgrade. She will move on to a residency program at Tufts Medical Center/New England Eye Center (Boston) and will specialize in ophthalmology.
