The Fairfield Town Council appointed Jeff Neubauer last week to a temporary post on the School Administrative District 49 board of directors in a 4-1 secret-ballot vote.

Six candidates applied for the school board appointment.

Neubauer serves on the town’s Budget Committee and the steering committee for the Economic and Community Development Advisory Committee. He will fill the seat vacated by Andrew Carlton, who resigned from the board late last month. Fairfield has six representatives on the 13-member school board. SAD 49 includes Fairfield, Clinton, Albion and Benton.

Neubauer will serve until a new board member is elected in the general election in November. Nomination papers are available starting Aug. 10 at the town clerk’s office.
