I attended the forum presented by the Augusta School Department concerning the recent events at Cony High School.

The lack of attendance by concerned community and parents confirms my thoughts that many people look for information via news media and/or Facebook.

With the seriousness of the events at Cony, one would think that more people would want accurate and complete information and would be able fit a forum such as this into their schedule. I know we are in a very busy time of the year, and schedules are full. There is only so much time in a day.

As tired and worn as I was that day, I was one of the few who ventured out, to hear and see, face-to-face, what the Augusta School Department administration, local police and emergency management personnel had to offer with concern to these situations.

I believe that Principal Kim Silsby, Superintendent Jim Anastasio and Police Lt. Christopher Massey provided as much information as they could during the current investigation, all having done their job throughout this situation and presentation at the forum. I am as satisfied as I can be.

I thank the Cony administration and staff for all of their efforts under such stressful situations. We have a great school system. Our city departments, including police and fire, have done an excellent job of helping our school through this situation. I am a parent and community member. I have been proud to have my kids go through the Augusta school system. I still am.
