State police have released surveillance photos of two men who smashed the glass doors of stores in Weld, New Vineyard and Jay overnight, stealing cigarettes, chewing tobacco and alcohol.

The burglaries took place late Tuesday or early Wednesday morning at Schoolhouse Variety on School Street in Weld, Our Family Variety in New Vineyard and My Dad’s Place in Jay, according to a news release from Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland,.

Both burglars were wearing gloves, and their faces were covered with blue bandannas. One of them is white with short, dark hair, and the other was described in the release as a slender black man with thick-rimmed glasses.

The glass doors were broken in all three stores. Stolen items included cigarettes, chewing tobacco and alcohol.

State police ask that anyone with information about the burglaries call the state police in Augusta at 624-7076.
