AUGUSTA — A teenaged bicyclist was hurt Friday afternoon in a collision with a motor vehicle on Western Avenue at the entrance to Augusta Plaza.

Augusta Police Sgt. Christian Behr said the boy was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center with what appeared to be minor injuries.

He also said the driver of the four-door sedan was injured.

No further details were available.

That crash, reported at 2:31 p.m. Friday, came less than two hours after police were called to a four-vehicle crash near the entrance to Dunkin Donuts at 22 Western Ave.

Behr said one person was evaluated for injuries by Augusta Rescue, but no one was taken to the hospital.

He said two vehicles were stopped when they were struck in the rear by two more eastbound vehicles. Two of the cars had to be towed from the scene because of the damage they sustained.

That crash was reported at 12:28 p.m.
