A man fell 60 feet early Friday morning at the Otter Cliffs rock climbing area at Acadia National Park, according to park rangers.

The man was transported by medical helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Park rangers, Mount Desert Island Search and Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to an emergency call, which came in about 8 a.m. on Friday.

There was no immediate report on the victim’s condition late Friday morning, and rangers were not releasing his name.

Rangers said they had no information to release yet on whether the victim was following park safety rules.
