Fairfield Historical Society will celebrate Food from the Past Saturday, July 11, at the History House, 42 High St. This event will celebrate how Fairfield’s ancestors held social events around food, according to a news release from the society.

Activities will begin at 10 a.m., with making and tasting homemade doughnuts. Antique doughnut holders will be on sale. An old-fashioned taffy pull is planned for 11 a.m., where people can help pull and taste taffy.

Ice cream will be made at 1 p.m., where people can help crank and then eat the ice cream.

Antique and vintage items, recently donated to the society by Arthur Julia, will be in a special exhibit.

Reservations are appreciated, though are not mandatory; call 453-2998 Tuesday. A brief membership meeting is planned at 4 p.m.
