AUGUSTA — The Augusta Elks scored four runs on six straight hits in the fifth inning to open a close game and beat Franklin County 8-2 in an American Legion baseball game Tuesday.

Quinn Stebbins had a double, a single and three RBIs for Augsuta while Taylor Lockhart chipped in with a double and a single. Conner Perry added two singles and Ryan Rodrigue chipped in with a double. Kolbe Merfeld picked up the pitching win to stay unbeaten at 4-0 .

Amos Herrin hit a long fly ball that was off the glove of Augusta’s left fielder to score Anthony Franchetti and Corey Rogers for Franklin’s runs.

GARDINER 15, BETHEL 2, 5 innings: Dalton Therrien smacked a pair of doubles in the first inning as Gardiner went on to roll Bethel in five innings in Gardiner.

Jake Bannister had two singles for Gardiner (9-5), while Jonah Martin and Nic Berube each had a double.

Anthony Todd had a triple for Bethel (6-8).

POST 51 10-11, MIDCOAST 7-4: A seven-run inning in the top of the ninth of Game 1 and a nine-run outburst in the top of the sixth of Game 2 led Post 51 to a sweep of Midcoast in an American Legion doubleheader played Monday at Medomak Valley High School.

Ben Frazee, who picked up the pitching win, capped off the big ninth inning with a grand slam to earn the walk-off win. Johnathan Wilkie added a pair of singles in the game, which picked up in the seventh inning after the first six were played at an earlier date.

In Game 2, Post 51 (10-4) pounded out seven extra base hits to roll to the seven-inning victory. Danny Pooler finished a single short of the cycle, Joe Leclair had two triples and a single and Zach Mathieu belted a double and a home run.

Chris Graffam had three hits on the day, including a double in Game 2 for Midcoast (4-10).

JUNIOR LEGION

 

BANGOR 6, SKOWRECLEGION 4: Devon Watt had three hits, including a double, but it was not enough as SkowrecLegion dropped a Junior Legion contest against Bengor at Memorial Field on Monday.

Bangor took the lead for good in the top of the second when it scored three runs on a pair of doubles.
