GARDINER — Gardiner plated five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead for good in a 10-8 American Legion Zone 2 win over Brunswick on Wednesday.

Jonah Martin drove in a pair of runs with a double, while Dalton Therrien added a solo home run. Jake Martin also chipped in with a single and a double for Gardiner (10-5).

John Parker paced Brunswick (4-11) with a double and a three-run home run, while Zach Meggison added a single and a double.

POST 51 24, PENQUIS 3: Post 51 pounded out 21 hits, including 16 for extra bases, in a rout of Penquis.

Devin Warren finished with two doubles, a two-run home run and three RBIs, while Zach Mathieu had a solo home run, a double and three RBIs for Post 51 (11-4). Jared Cunningham added two doubles and a triple, Adam Littlefield notched three doubles and a single and Joe LeClair added a pair of doubles.

Andy Smedstat had three singles to pace Penquis (3-10).

BESSEY MOTORS 1, AUGUSTA ELKS 0: Bessey scored the game’s lone run in the top of the fifth to pick up a narrow win over Augusta.

Riley Chickering took a perfect game into the seventh before Augusta’s Kolbe Merfeld broke it up with a single. Raymond Mosca pitched all seven innings for Augusta (10-5) in the loss.

JUNIOR LEGION

SKOWHEGAN 12, WINSLOW 1, 6 innings: Skowhegan scored five runs in the first to take control of its Junior American Legion game with Winslow, winning via mercy rule after six innings.

Marcus Christopher and Adam Turcotte each drove in a pair of runs for Skowhegan. Evan Bess picked up the win on the mound, allowing one run, four hits and a walk while striking out four in four innings.
