Life At Sea Opening Reception
Tall Ships Portland Festival Kick-off and opening reception for Life At Sea Art Sale — Creative Office Pavilion kicks off the tall ship festivities with the unveiling of a collection of marine art by local and nationally renowned painters. The official commemorative painting of the festival will be shown there depicting Portland Harbor’s landmarks welcoming members of the fleet.
A fundraiser for Sailing Ships Portland, the proceeds benefit leadership-learning programs for Portland youth through sailing. Creative Office Pavilion is located at 141 Middle Street, Portland. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased through www.tallshipsportland.com. Or by calling 207-619-1842. -

SailMaine’s Official Tall Ships’ Ball on board Spanish tall ship El Galeón Andalucía
Wind, Water and Song! The Spanish tall ship El Galeón Andalucía will be the first Tall Ship to arrive. She will host the Official Tall Ships Ball, Friday, July 17, 6pm – 10pm to help SailMaine and Sailing Ships Portland commemorate the ships’ return to Portland. El Galeón Andalucía will host an on-deck, on-dock reception to the sounds of Sean Mencher and his Rhythm Kings. Proceeds go to youth-on-board education and leadership programs. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased through www.tallshipsportland.com. Or by calling 207-772-7245.

Saturday, July 18
Free – no ticket required to enjoy the Parade of Sail and all the activities in Compass Park at Maine State Pier.
1:45 p.m.: Parade starts near Portland Head Light
4 p.m.: Ships dock in downtown Portland
5 p.m.: Welcome by the Maine Pops Concert Band kicking off an evening of celebration.
6 p.m.: Opening Ceremony on the Shipyard Brewing Music Stage with a warm welcome from local dignitaries to our arriving Captains, crews. Public invited.
7 p.m.–10 p.m.: Music continues on the Shipyard Brewing Music stage with performance by special guest Buffalo Chip Tea
Please note: Ships are not open for public boarding on Saturday

5 p.m. – 5:50 p.m.: Maine POPS Concert Band
6 p.m.: Opening Ceremony
7 p.m. – 10 p.m.: Shipyard Brewing’s Summerfest Concert starring Buffalo Chip Tea

Sunday, July 19
Festival opens for ship tours, music and great local food.
9:30 a.m.: 30-minute dockside interpretation of visiting vessels for individuals with special needs. Local deaf interpreters will translate the discussion for one select vessel. Go to www.tallshipsportland.com for details.
10 a.m.: Gates open to the Festival – public boarding of visiting Tall Ships at Maine State Pier, Port Ocean Terminal, Maine Wharf and Ocean Gateway along Commercial Street.
Festivities at Compass Park on Maine State Pier include children’s activities, arts, crafts, exhibits, lectures and Portland cuisine and lobster!
11 a.m.–9 p.m.: Compass Park (inside Maine State Pier)
Festival Activities
For Kids and Guppies! Face painting, balloon artist and coloring
12 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Maritime Education Tent Schedule – a variety of subjects from celestial navigation, weather, how to sail on a Tall Ship, conversations with visiting ship captains, marine photography and video, maritime career and educational opportunities and more. Day and Evening Sails on board local tall ship schooners Bagheera, Frances and Wendemeen.
8 p.m.: The City of Portland is hosting an Organ Performance at Merrill Auditorium. The Magnificent Kotzschmar organ will play alongside the historic film, “Old Ironsides.” Cost per person: $15.00. Tickets are available at www.tallshipsportland.com.
8 p.m.: Festival box office closes
9 p.m.: Festival closes for the evening

6:30 a.m. – 7:30 a,m,: Photographer and Photography Club Access – If you like being behind the lens and want to see the ships up-close from the dock, register for our exclusive viewing opportunity. Tickets are limited. Details and tickets at www.tallshipsportland.com.
9:30 a.m.: 30-minute dockside interpretation of visiting ship, Picton-Castle, for individuals with special needs. Local deaf interpreters will translate the discussion. Meet at Maine Wharf entrance. Festival ticket required.
10 a.m.: Gates open to the Festival – public boarding of visiting Tall Ships at Maine State Pier, Maine Wharf and the Ocean Gateway terminal. Also visit Compass Park inside Maine State Pier for kids’ activities, music and exhibits!
11 a.m. – 6 p.m.: Compass Park (inside Maine State Pier) Festival Activities
