A tractor-trailer caught fire Thursday morning near mile 56 of the Maine Turnpike in Falmouth, causing traffic disruptions but no injuries or spillage, according to a news release from the Maine State Police.

The truck, driven by Ward Bond, 50, of Corinna, was carrying coal ash.

Traffic in both northbound and southbound lanes was disrupted after the 9 a.m. truck fire, according to the release. The disruption lasted about two hours, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority website.

Troopers think a wheel bearing on the trailer overheated and started the fire.

There were no charges related to the fire.
