I cannot believe that I read in your paper the commentary on July 7, “Whites must study past, understand how it affects what we believe today,” by Karen Heck, the former mayor of Waterville, condemning the white race for all the discrimination happening in these United States.

I hope she wasn’t including the white French people, who, if memory serves me, suffered as much, if not more, than other minorities when they first arrived in Maine and tried to eke out a living.

And now our own Paul LePage had the gall to insult all French people in his latest tirade?

An old wise man once asked, “Why must the present generation suffer for the actions of their ancestors?” I say we should forgive and forget.
